Dr. Shaheen N. Awan is a certified speech pathologist and Professor of Speech Pathology
in the Dept. of Audiology & Speech Pathology at Bloomsburg University of PA.
Dr. Awan’s clinical expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of
voice disorders. In addition,
Dr. Awan has extensive experience in laryngoscopic/stroboscopic evaluation of voice.
Dr. Awan’s research work focuses upon computer analysis of
disordered speech and voice. He has published numerous research articles and book chapters, and is the author
of The Voice Diagnostic Protocol (Pro-Ed Inc.). His recent research has focused on the development and validation of acoustic models for
the prediction of dysphonia severity in sustained vowels and continuous speech. In addition, Dr. Awan has been
active in developing clinically-oriented computer software for speech and voice assessment and is a consultant with
KayPentax (Lincoln Park, NJ) and Tiger DRS Inc. (Seattle, WA).
In November 2009, Dr. Awan was elected as a Fellow by the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) for achievement in the areas of Research, Teaching, and Clinical
Service.
